End of July and Cape Cod

7.31.2023

This month has gone by fast! We had a good mix of chilling at home with a new baby and going out and doing things. Charley and Bergen had a sewing camp and learned to do some fun sewing! We had some visitors come visit and hold Tate, we also had friends come take the girls so I could rest. We went to the pool, Spencer took the girls to Lake Candlewood on the Holmsteads boat. They all had fun and Lenny and Jonny surfed! Spencer said he will always remember cute Jonny wanting to surf and just going for it. She had a smile the whole time and was laughing while they went. Spencer has also been playing "Alone" at night with the girls. Alone is a TV series where people live off the land in remote places by themselves and they see who can last the longest. So he got some dice and made up different things that would happen to them if they rolled a certain number. Like a #4 is they found a berry patch or #6 is they couldn't find anything to eat so they had to go hungry. They also had dum-dum suckers and skittles for good things that happened to them. :) They LOVE it and want to play every night. They all made structures out of blankets and pillows for their shelter too.

We took a trip to Cape Cod and it was a lot of fun. It was such an enjoyable vacation and I think it's because everyone was in a good mood and Charley was such a good helper and so sweet to her sisters. It was so pleasant! Tate did so well and Spencer and I would rotate who would take the other girls to the beach and who would take Tate to an air conditioned place since the heat would not be good for her. I took her to the library and a cute bakery. We had two FULL days at Corporation Beach (one with Dahlia and her mom). We caught hermit crabs, mussels and regular crabs there. The girls loved it and we had such a fun time. We did one day at Craigville beach and went out to eat and try some yummy lobster rolls and Skipper Chowder House, Mac's Shack in Wellfleet and the Lobster Trap in Bourne. We explored Chatham one day and went to a candy shop and got ice cream and spent a few hours in the library. We went crabbing and got about 15-20 crabs and came home and cooked them up! Spencer also cooked the mussels he caught and they were good! Jonny loved them:) We made s'mores one night in the backyard fire and just enjoyed the nights as it cooled down and felt so good. Such a fun trip!!
