July adventures

7.11.2017

July went by so quickly! I feel like I get farther and farther behind on this blog and hope that I can keep it up with 3 kids. I think I take more pictures now that my phone is always so readily available and so I feel like I have so many more pictures to add and document... which is a good problem but then hard to stay on top of documenting everything we do.
Here are a few fun things we did in July. But first I had to take a picture of Charley's recent artwork. She is becoming quite the artist and it's so fun to see her draw and spell! She can write her name and MOM and DAD. She is drawing faces and bodies and I love them!!
We went to a cool gallery with friends a few weeks ago too. It was in Chelsea and they had a few hands on exhibits. There were these rotating mirrors that were fun to look in. And then there was this huge dice that the girls could play in. They could count each side and see how many dots were on a side and then go inside the holes to play. It was pretty cool! On the way out of the subway there was a HUGE downpour of rain.. like major downpour. I had brought the girls' raincoats and one umbrella but we wanted inside the subway stairs for a while but then just decided to make a break for it. I held Charley's hand and pushed Bergen in the stroller. Bergen got soaked because the stroller doesn't have a very good hood on it. Charley got soaked where her raincoat wasn't touching her dress and I just had to embrace getting soaked too. There were a few puddles that came up past my ankles and so my shoes got soaked! I tried to make light of the situation and laugh so Charley would think it was fun and it worked! She was finding puddles to jump through and run through. I had brought some extra clothes in my backpack so when we made it to the gallery we went into the bathroom and changed and tried to dry our clothes a bit.
One of our Saturday adventures we biked over to Cobble Hill and had an amazing brunch. I got nutella stuffed french toast and Spencer got an omelet. Then we biked over the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge, stooping in Chinatown for some cherries. We also saw a really good mural that just went up by ancestry. It's painted of people that are actual ancestors to the men who signed the Declaration of Independence. It's really cool!
Gramma B made some really cool pillowcases for the girls! They opened their package and loved them! I had been talking with my mom about making some and so I sent her some fabric to match the girls' quilts that I made them and my mom sewed these the next day! She said she was so excited to make them and they turned out really cute! The girls love them and are sleeping with them on their beds now. We also bought them some new sleeping bags for our upcoming camping trip. They have been playing in their sleeping bags non-stop since. I let them pick out the colors they wanted and they fit so snug in their sleeping bags it's cute to see. :)
