We had planned a camping trip with some of our friends for a while and were so excited when the week finally arrived. It was about a 4.5 hour drive up to the Adirondacks where we were camping and so on the way we took a little detour and stopped in Cooperstown where they have the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Spencer loved walking around and reading different things about past and present platers while the girls and I looked for the funniest mascot and movies they could watch of people playing baseball. It was a quick stop but fun to see. Cooperstown is such a baseball tourist town too!
Then on our way we went to Alger Island on Fourth Lake. Our camping spot was on an actual island so we had to take a boat across the water to get to it. Our friends had gotten there first so we unloaded all of our camping supplies onto the dock and they came and picked us up. It was beautiful up there too! So great and the water was so calm and nice. I wanted to go skiing so bad. We took a 15 minute boat ride over to our campsite and set up camp. It was amazing! So much shade, nice weather, a little beach/sandy area in the water for the kids to play. There was even a small cabin type covering to put food, extra things you didn't need in your tent. (Lean-In). Each camping place had their own little toilet which was actually quite pleasant. The island was about 2 miles around (I ran around it one day and figured that was about how long it took me) so not a ton of people on it either. You could barely see the campsite next to you because there were so many trees so it was nice to have some privacy without our camping area. We went with two other families, the Sturgills and Heiselts. It was a lot of fun to camp with them and we all get along so well which made it nice.
We spent the next 3 days eating good food, swimming, relaxing, kayaking, boating around the water, hiking and more swimming. The girls were probably in the water 80% of the time. They loved it! And Bergen was probably naked 90% of the time:) That girl did not want to keep her clothes or shoes on. We each took a night to cook some food so our night we made tin-foil dinners and a peach cobbler on the dutch oven. It was super yummy! For breakfast each morning we had oatmeal and eggs and for lunch we just brought sandwich to make and fruit. It was such a fun camping trip we want to go back next year! It was peaceful, calm, phone-free and incredible views.
