Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

12.24.2023

Christmas Eve we drove down to Brooklyn to attend church in our old ward and see so many friendly faces. It was good to be there and see so many friends that we have missed. We brought some presents to Hinckley and PierrLands kids too. The girls helped us buy them some gifts and wrap them which felt good to have them involved in this. After church we drove back home and made our Christmas Eve dinner- plantains and cuban beans and rice, went caroling at God's acre and then the girls opened their secret sister gifts and we had cake for Jesus. It was a good day. Then we read in the bible and went upstairs and slept in the attic. The girls fell asleep fairly easy this year and everyone slept in a bit (except for Charley who was up at 4am asking if we could go downstairs to see what Santa brought)! Every 30 minutes she would wake me up and ask and I would tell her no, go to bed! :)

Christmas morning was so fun to wake up and see what Santa had brought everyone! The girls spent a few hours playing with their toys before we went into the living room and opened presents. We went slow opening presents watching each person open what they got and play with it for a bit. I didn't want to rush through this but make it meaningful and with gratitude. We spent the rest of the day napping, talking to family and playing with their new gifts.
