Upstate with Derek and Emily and kids

6.04.2020

We had such a fun time going upstate to Palmyra with Derek and Emily and their family. We stayed at the KOA Canandaigua and it was such a great campground! It was our first KOA and the girls had so much fun with their cousins. Our cabin was right on the pond so each day everyone would go out and catch frogs, say hi to the snapping turtle and catch crawdads. At the KOA there was a pool, a trampoline, mini-golf and playground and lots of grass to roam and play. We even rented a paddle boat to paddle around the pond. It was a perfect summer vacation. We got to visit the Sacred Grove and the Hill Cumorah which are always such neat experiences. Because of COVID they weren't doing any tours but we could walk around ourselves. We hiked up tot he top of Hill Cumorah and also spent some time walking around the Sacred Grove. Emily took the girls and let Spencer and I walk around by ourselves which was fun.
We hit up the yummy ice cream place in town called Chill and Grill and got some HUGE ice creams! Lenny took to Tanner very quickly and affectionately and they became fast friends! She loves riding on his back and staying right at his side. We also went and got strawberries at a local farm and ate some strawberry shortcakes! They were super yummy!

After we met up with Derek and Emily, on our way back home we stopped one night at an Airbnb that was about half way home and stayed in this cute little house right on the water. It reminded us of a place you would find on the coast of Alabama with houses right on the water, hearing crickets chirp, music playing from the houses below and the warm summer evening air. The house had a barn right next to it that had a huge movie theater room so we went over there and watched The Greatest Showman and let the girls stay up late. I stepped outside and took a few pictures of the sunset because it was beautiful!
