June was an eventful month for us, especially in Brooklyn! It seemed like there were protests down Franklin avenue, Grand Army Plaza, or Barclays center on a daily basis. There were huge gatherings of people that disrupted our Brooklyn commutes, but we were ok with it because it gave us time to reflect and think more about how we as a family can help to combat racism in our society. As a family we made an effort to get more books with stories of people with different ethnic backgrounds and have family discussions on racism.
Bergen's LONG hair is my favorite!! |
With many of our favorite places closed still because of COVID-19 we spent almost every available Saturday this summer at the beach. We found a great place on Jones Beach with no waves and very shallow water where they kids could hang out mostly unsupervised. Spencer and the girls love digging for clams and mussels and of course the large horseshoe crabs that look much scarier than they really are.
We love our neighbors in the building. Jackson, Elle and Lucia were so much fun to play with inside during lockdown days as well as up on the roof when the kids needed some outside time. The kids favorite mode of transportation will always be walking/scootering through Brooklyn!
Again!! Charley broke her arm again. This time it was just a small break but enough that the doctor recommended she get casted for 3 weeks to let it heal.
A little Book Club Zoom with my high school besties! |

Charley graduated from first grade! Her teacher Mr. Roubedango is definitely the hippest teacher around. He works at J.Crew on the weekends and it shows!
