Christmas!

12.28.2017

We finished out December with more Christmas adventures. We continued our tradition of cookie making with Megan and Donn. We made 4 different kinds of cookies and ate wayyyy too much sugar that night. The girls helped decorate the sugar cookies and I made some soup to eat while we decorated. After we put the girls to bed, we continued making even more cookies and enjoyed the night with Megan and Donn. We love them!
I met up with my good friend Sarah who was in town for the weekend. We met at Serendipity to get the frozen hot chocolate and it was good! I had been wanting to go here so it was a perfect night to go and enjoy some yummy hot chocolate.
Christmas Eve consisted of making gingerbread houses out of graham crackers, making a cheesecake and singing Happy Birthday to Jesus, opening Christmas jammies, sleeping under out in the living room and we also went over to our friends, the Heiselts, to enjoy some yummy soup and sing Christmas carols.
Christmas Day was really nice and relaxing. It was a first for us staying home with the girls and it was really nice not traveling or going anywhere. Charley woke up first so her and Spencer watched some cartoons until Bergen woke up (at 8am!) When they both were up, they went into the toy room to see what Santa had brought. They were so excited to see a trampoline and their stockings full! They went through their stockings and then we went into the living room to open presents. We didn't do many presents because both Grandmas had got the girls quite a few gifts so it was a perfect combination. We all took turns opening presents and seeing what each other had gotten. Both the girls bought something for each other which was really cute to see them open too! Some favorites was dress up clothes, aprons, jewelry making kits, books, science experiment kit and the trampoline from Santa.
The day after Christmas we ventured out to DeKalb Market to try Katz Deli. We got a huge sandwich to share but both of us weren't too impressed with it.
Another thing we did this Christmas season was go down to Dyker Heights to see the lights. It's a favorite tradition and this year the girls LVOED it! They were so excited to see so many lights at each house and see the blow up Christmas toys as well. It was definitely worth the cold (8 degrees!). We went with some good friends and enjoyed some pho afterward.
The girls love their cowgirl outfits Bart got them for Christmas. They wear them almost daily!
Lenny joined Spencer and I one night for our temple date. We each took turns going in and doing initiators. Lenny had two HUGE blow outs on the subway on the way to the temple and was super hungry so I had to feed her on the subway too. We both just laughed that Satan was trying his hardest to get us to not go that night. But we each were able to go in and do some work which felt good.
Here is a door full of attributes we learned this year. Each month we learned two attributes and would do different games, activities, role play around that attribute. It was super fun to do and so great to see the girls learning as well. I loved doing this with them!
