Since we bought out apartment I have been able to decorate each room how I like it. It has been a lot of fun to change things up and spend a little more money to have some nice things. We made our 3rd bedroom into a toy room even though that will change in a few months. It's nice for the girls to have an extra place to play, read and do crafts.
A few days ago we went to a Cat Cafe for Bergen. I had seen it walked a few weeks before and thought Bergen would be in heaven so one Saturday afternoon we decided to take the girls. There are about 20 cats that are inside and you can play with them, pet them and hold them. The girls loved it! It was definitely a place for cat people though. It smelled really bad and the workers were super into cats.. like really into them! They were definite cat people to a T and loved their cats. It was fun seeing the girls' faces while they played with the cats and though Spencer and I don't think we will take them again, I know Bergen would go in a heartbeat.
For Father's Day I made Spencer his favorite Bisquick Delight and got him tickets to a dumpling cooking class. It was a nice relaxing day. He grilled some meat and we were able to eat up on the roof and enjoy the weather. We love our roof so much. It's so nice to be up there. We bought a little swimming pool for the girls that they love!
We met up with some of our dear friends in Manhattan a while ago too. The Eyi's moved to Manhattan about a year ago and now they are moving to Boston. We had to see them a few more times before they left so we went up and met at the Natural History Museum. There is a cool splash pad in the back so we played in there for a while and then went inside and toured around. We saw the giant whale, went into the kids area and walked through a few other exhibits. It was so fun to see them. Charley and James are super cute together and play so well. Laura is due with her third boy anyway so it was fun to see them before they had their little boy too! After we met up with them we walked around the city until Bergen fell asleep and then I got some street food and Charley got an ice cream cone. We sat on a city bench and ate while Bergen slept in the stroller. It was a peaceful afternoon:)
Charley gave a talk in Primary and did so good! It was just about the cutest thing to listen to her give it. She had practiced all week and had it memorized. I remember when I was little and had to give talks my mom would draw a lot of pictures for most of the words and so that is what I did with her. It was really easy for her to memorize her talk because of the pictures too. The best thing I loved about her talk was that she thought of the things to say too. I asked her 3 different ways she could take care of her body and then wrote down what she told me. She did awesome and got a lot of compliments on it.
Like I mentioned before I had gotten Spencer tickets to take a dumpling cooking class. So at the end of the month we went! It was so fun and we learned a lot. We learned 4 different ways of how to roll the dumplings and then how to make a yummy dessert (just banana wrapped in the dough). It was fun and we got some recipes afterward to then be able to try them all on our own. We may have to go back and re-teach ourselves the right way to roll the dumplings but it was cool to learn all the different ways.
We went to a baseball game with friends the other night and it was a perfect night! It was down in Coney Island so we rode our bikes all the way down there. We got some pretzels and greasy chicken nuggets and the girls were in heaven. I tried to teach them a few things about baseball but it was hard for them to see the actual players. It was a fun night with friends though. Afterward we got some ice cream and called it a night.
My sister Danielle is here for a few days! She is actually on her way to Europe and flew to NY and then is flying out of NY in 2 days for Europe. We were able to show her around the city on our bikes which was a lot of fun. We rode over the Brooklyn Bridge, up to Central Park and then dropped the girls off with Spencer while we went to dinner and saw The Waitress on Broadway. It was such a fun night and the Waitress is hilarious! The girls loved being with Dani and spending time with her! She is such a fun Aunt.
