4th of July weekend

8.09.2016

The 4th of July weekend we had our good friends from Utah visiting. So during the week we hung out with them and then over the weekend we went camping with some friends that live here in Brooklyn with us. During the week we went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It was so fun to tour around both islands and read up on our history. It would be nice to go back without kids because you can't really soak it all in, but it was really cool to go to Ellis Island and go into the building where the immigrants first came to.
Over the weekend of the 4th we went camping which was a lot of fun! Our friends found a camping spot in upstate New Jersey and it was a perfect camping place! They had activities for the kids, a little petting zoo, lots of grassy areas, a playground and a pool! It was a perfect weekend getaway to go camping. We ended up buying a tent before we left:) 2 years ago when we went camping we loved the tent we rented from REI. It was a huge 6 man tent with a zipper divider in the middle. This time I tried to rent that same tent but it wasn't available so we just decided to buy it. I know we will use it lots and this way we aren't putting our money towards renting it anymore! We could fit the pack-n-play and a little blanket-bed for Charley in one half and then we brought our queen memory foam mattress to put in the other half. The girls did really well and slept through the night! We ate some yummy food each night and had a successful camping weekend. When we got back we made blue cheese burgers and homemade ice cream with the Deckers and watched the Macy's fireworks from our roof!
