For Jim's funeral we flew to Colorado to be with my sister and their kids for a week. Our whole immediate family was there and a few of my Aunts, Uncles and cousins made it out as well. It was really nice of so many people to travel to Colorado to be there for the funeral. The funeral was on a Saturday and then we stayed the week after to help out and be with Sarah. It was so nice to spend time with her and her kids. We got the kids ready in the morning for school, coordinated rides, made dinners, cleaned, did laundry and played with the kids. I was able to make a calendar and send it to family and friends to coordinate people going to stay with Sarah to help her. It has been so nice for her to have the constant help. The funeral was a beautiful service. It really was! It reiterated what kind of man Jim is and how wonderful his life was here on earth. It inspired me to be better. To serve more, be more patient, more fun-loving with my kids and more joyful! I was holding Jane (Sarah's 4 year old) at one point and it broke my heart when she asked me questions about Jim. She asked me when he was going to come out of the casket, why they closed the casket and why he was still up in Heaven. To a 4 year old it doesn't all make perfect sense and even to me, an adult, it doesn't make sense. That is where my faith came in strong after Jim passed away. It reminded me that I don't know our Heavenly Father's plan exactly and that my faith and trust in him will have to compensate for the unknowns.
One of the days we were there we did a HUGE Costco run for Sarah. It was my first time going into Costco with 2 carts! :) Luckily we went during nap time and din't have kids with us.
It was fun to see these two interact. They are 2 weeks apart and it was fun to let them play together. It's amazing how similar babies really are. They would make the same sounds, babbles, both were trying to crawl really bad, they both ate A TON and were on the same sleep schedule for the most part!
I have to write this down because it made Spencer and I laugh! On our way out to Colorado we sat behind this guy in the black coat. Apparently Bergen and Charley were being a little too obnoxious because he turned around (STILL before takeoff) and ask if they would stop doing whatever they were doing. :) Spencer reminded him that Charley was 2 and to chill out. We tried so hard the rest of the flight to quiet our kids and not have them bang on the seat in front of them, which is pretty hard not to do. The flight attendants gave him some free alcohol because he was still complaining. Anyway, we get off the plane, are at Sarah's for the whole week and when we get back on our returning flight home to New York, that SAME guy is on our flight! We made eye contact as I passed his seat to get to mine on the plane and his face was priceless!! It was complete horror! He quickly looked back at Spencer to make sure he wasn't going crazy and that I did indeed belong to our family. Spencer and I started laughing so hard when we sat 2 rows behind him. He immediately asked the flight attendant if he could switch seats but the plane was full! :) ehhh sorry!
