1. One night Spencer and I both woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and since we {usually} put Bergen in the living room to sleep at night, we didn't want her to wake up and see us so we both CRAWLED to the bathroom! :) haha yes at 4am we were crawling to get to the bathroom without waking our child.
2. Speaking of Bergen sleeping in the living room this is our routine. Every night at 7pm we put Bergen down in her crib which is in our room. But then around 10:30pm when we are ready to go to the bed, we wheel Bergen's crib from our room, into the living room so we both can sleep a little more soundly :)
3. Working out at home is always a bit of a challenge. When my workout video says to do lunges for a minute, that usually means I have to lunge back and forth from one end to the other about 5 times. Most people could lunge from one end to the other of their house just once in the span of a minute. And working out out while Bergen is sleeping usually means staying in Charley's room while she is in there with me reading books/playing which can get a little cramped. Oh the things we do for sleeping children.
4. We have 2 closets in our entire 500 square apt. Yes 2!
5. One perk of not having a lot of space is that we do a clothes/toy clean out about every 6 months and get rid of a garbage bag of "stuff" each time.
6. Not many people know this but having a car in the city is a lot of work. We usually only drive to Costco and church each week but every other day we have to move it for street cleaning. Depending on which side of the street they are cleaning that day, I have to find a parking spot on the other side of the street which is not an easy task with everyone trying to do the same thing.
7. We use our dishwasher is an extra snack cabinet and load it with food! We hand wash everything.
8. My first thought when I buy things is "will this fit in my closet".. not "can i afford it"
9. One day Bergen and I were eating our lunch on the floor in my bedroom and it occurred to me how strange that would seem to anyone else. Charley was napping and we couldn't be in our living room/kitchen area or else it would wake her up, so we set up camp on the floor in our bedroom.
10. And of course, our most recent party of sleeping out in the living room to sleep train our baby. ah #aptliving at it's finest!
This list seems like a little downer, but we really do LOVE it here. Here are a few perks: Living in a small apt means you can clean it in about 10 minutes. It gets messy really fast, but the clean-up is even faster. There is no yard work on the weekends so we go out and play every single Saturday. Our best friends are literally a set of stairs down from us which makes for a fun night after we put the kids to bed.. we can just grab the baby monitor and party it up on their patio outside. Living in NY means trying out and eating at the most amazing and BEST food places around. We love trying new things and finding some great food! We also love the energy that New York has and all the hustle and bustle of the city is actually really energizing to me. We love it here so much!

Bergen starts out in our bedroom
and then we wheel her out to the living room.
This made me laugh! I can totally relate since we've been in the same one bedroom since we got married 5 years ago. Sometimes I wish we had more space but it's difficult to top cleaning the entire house in 20 minutes and knowing exactly where my girls are at any given moment! Still there are definitely days when I dream of having a washer and dryer and not having to hunker down in our bedroom at 7:30 p.m. because the girls are in bed in the living room. Deep down I think I'll miss this time in our lives and this old quirky small apartment when we move one day...but only for a little while ;) It's funny how we think we need so much and yet can get live comfortably with less. These are the days!
