Christmas in New York!
12.19.2015
I love spending time in New York for the holidays. We usually leave town and go some place for different holidays, but New York has so much to offer too! We are traveling up to Maine this year for Christmas and leave in a couple days. Since I knew we were going up to Maine, I had made list of things I wanted our family to do before we left. We were able to go to some fun places and see most everything on our list. This year we went to Dyker Heights lights which are amazing!! There are streets and streets full of decked out houses to the max with Christmas lights and holiday yard art. It's pretty amazing! We also went to the Union Square Holiday Market which is my favorite. I was able to pick out a scarf for a friend. We saw santa at Santa Land at Macy's. This is so magical for kids! They turn the whole 8th floor into a magical land where you walk through and there are trains, fake snow, christmas trees and tons of life size people doing different things like ice skating and caroling. Charley loved seeing Santa and told him she wanted a scooter. I think she thought he was going to give it to her right there because she kept politely and quietly asking for it. Bergen did really well until Santa moved and all his bells on his suit started jingling, which scared her and she was done! We were also able to deliver our Christmas granola to friends and do a service date night full of delivering hams/oranges/gifts to dear friends in our ward. Spencer and I were also able to go on a date to see the Nutcracker at the New York City Ballet. It was such a great performance! I have been wanting to do this since we lived here, so I am glad we finally were able to. And today we had our ward Christmas Breakfast where Charley ate way too many sprinkles and decorated about 20 different sugar cookies. Next week we are off to Maine! We rented out an airbnb place with a two of Spencer's brothers and their family. I am excited to relax, make a quilt and enjoy quiet and quaint Maine!
