what about this December weather eh?!

12.22.2015

This December is killin it!!! We are loving this weather. It is record high temperatures and we are not complaining. Usually by now we are in scarfs, hats, mittens and huge puffy coats but we can usually get by with a light hoodie or Charley usually even ditches that and is just in her shirt. It's been pretty amazing! We have been going to the playgrounds every day and taking advantage of this weather.
A few pictures of things we have been up to: Playgrounds for dayzzz, love nursing my little girl (ps stripes on stripes on stripes), my friend Lizzie had a birthday and we celebrated by going to the Flat Iron and shopping at Flying Tiger (which is amazing and has some way cheap stuff) and had gelato at Eataly afterward. I also snapped a cute picture of both Spencer and Charley pushing their strollers around town. AND I had to document this girls' style these days. She is all about dressing herself which I love, but she does it about 3-4 times a day so I find clothes EVERYWHERE around our apt. There is also a funny text from the husband that I had to put on here because he is too funny, I may or may not have gotten a hair cut and then there is the Charley with her cookie picture. We had a scary moment at the playground the other day. Charley was climbing up a tall structure and fell down (about 5 feet) right on the side of her face. She immediately passed out. I was holding Bergen so I ran over to her, set Bergen on the ground and held Charley and started talking to her. I told her to wake up and breathe. I kept telling her it was okay and that she needed to wake up. I wasn't too concerned since she passes out a lot from crying. She kind of rolled her eyes back, clenched her teeth and let out a breath and then went unconscious again! I kept holding her and rocking her back and forth and after about 25 seconds (which is a long time!)  she opened her eyes and started crying. She cried for a good 10 minutes more from being shaken up than anything. We left the playground and went to get a cookie since that makes everything feel better! She seemed fine the rest of the day so I didn't worry too much. She still took a nap when we got home, woke up fine and was her normal self. She didn't really have an appetite but what toddler doesn't. I checked her pupils to make sure they were the same size and kept asking her if her head hurt, but other than that we continued on like normal. Hopefully everything is okay in that little head of hers!

Christmas in New York!

12.19.2015

I love spending time in New York for the holidays. We usually leave town and go some place for different holidays, but New York has so much to offer too! We are traveling up to Maine this year for Christmas and leave in a couple days. Since I knew we were going up to Maine, I had made  list of things I wanted our family to do before we left. We were able to go to some fun places and see most everything on our list. This year we went to Dyker Heights lights which are amazing!! There are streets and streets full of decked out houses to the max with Christmas lights and holiday yard art. It's pretty amazing! We also went to the Union Square Holiday Market which is my favorite. I was able to pick out a scarf for a friend. We saw santa at Santa Land at Macy's. This is so magical for kids! They turn the whole 8th floor into a magical land where you walk through and there are trains, fake snow, christmas trees and tons of life size people doing different things like ice skating and caroling. Charley loved seeing Santa and told him she wanted a scooter. I think she thought he was going to give it to her right there because she kept politely and quietly asking for it. Bergen did really well until Santa moved and all his bells on his suit started jingling, which scared her and she was done! We were also able to deliver our Christmas granola to friends and do a service date night full of delivering hams/oranges/gifts to dear friends in our ward. Spencer and I were also able to go on a date to see the Nutcracker at the New York City Ballet. It was such a great performance! I have been wanting to do this since we lived here, so I am glad we finally were able to. And today we had our ward Christmas Breakfast where Charley ate way too many sprinkles and decorated about 20 different sugar cookies. Next week we are off to Maine! We rented out an airbnb place with a two of Spencer's brothers and their family. I am excited to relax, make a quilt and enjoy quiet and quaint Maine!

Charley-isms

12.18.2015

Spencer and I were talking the other day about how we love Charley's word usage these days. I wanted to make a list of cute things she says so we can always remember them. We are loving this age!

- Everything ends in "me" when she wants something, "water me", "snack me"..
- Slobber is pronounced, "lobssher"
- When she wants to be held she says, "hold you"
- When she can tell we are upset or sad, she will rub our back and say, "it's okay, feel better"
- Each day when Bergen wakes up from her nap, she will go in and climb up on her crib and say, "Morning Bergen, you sleep good?"
- Everything she points to and doesn't know the name is "dee-da"
- When I am making something or doing something, she will say in the highest pitched voice, "what are you doing Mom?"
- We had FHE on being thankful and afterward I asked Charley what she was thankful for and she said with no prompt from us, "Jesus, PJ's and toys".. it was pretty amazing!
- Charley is loving saying the prayers these days and wants to for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's the shortest and sweetest thing and usually includes blessing the food and Jesus.
- She is also loving singing songs and I will usually hear her singing in the room, bath, carseat, at the store.. wherever the ABC song, twinkle twinkle, or the daddy-finger song.
- It has only happened a few times, but she has started to randomly tell us she loves us! ahh heart melter!
