My half marathon

9.17.2022

I flew to Utah to run the Big Cottonwood Half Marathon! It was a really nice weekend that I got to spend with Dani, Shell and Tiff! I stayed with Shell a night and Dani a night and it was fun to see both of them. We had some nice relaxing time, went to the expo to get our race packet, and then stayed at Dani's house the night before since she lives close to where the bus-loading was. I was going to pace Rachelle for this half and it was a lot of fun pacing. She had a goal to stay under a 7:30 min/mile pace and did sooo good! We made out goal by a few seconds and when she got her card that told her official time she was sooo happy! The race itself was a lot of fun. We started pretty fast and took the canyon at a good pace. At the base of the canyon you have 4 more miles to run which are still downhill but some flat so you really have to pace yourself on those. I kept pushing Shell telling her we were almost there and to keep at her pace. I kept my watch at the time we wanted so I could tell her if we were ahead of behind schedule. The last mile we really had to push it into gear to make our time and I'm so glad she had some energy for the end! It turned out to be a great race and we got to stay at the finish line to cheer on Dani and Tiff! Afterward I had a plane to catch and Dani had work so we couldn't stay for too long but we stretched and then went back to Dani's to get our things. It was a great weekend!
