We had a fun (and stressful) February. We are trying to get the house put together and unpack and decorate and buy new furniture and while I love unpacking and organizing the whole process of moving is hard and stressful. It's also hard moving into a brand new home and being a little over the top particular at first about keeping it clean. At first we didn't want the girls to use the hover-board downstairs because it was scratching up the floorboards but quickly realized that wasn't a good expectation and that they would never play with it if they couldn't do it downstairs so we changed that rule. We are slowly coming into our own space and making it ours and it's been really fun for me to decorate and get some new things. For Valentines Day Tyreek came to visit. Spencer brought me home flowers which was so nice and we made homemade pizzas that night. Bergen won 2nd place in the Read-A-Thon (last year she won first!) and so Charley and her friends were so cute and made a sign for her when she got home! I hosted a fun Galentines Brunch with some ladies from the ward. It was a lot of fun and I had about 22 people! It was so fun to host and have everyone in the house! I made some really good quiches and blueberry muffins and some fruit. It was great conversation! I loved it so much, I hosted another brunch for Lenny's preschool moms a few weeks after that!
Poor Jonny hit her eye on the corner of the coffee table and split the side of her eye open. I took her to the emergency room and they sent us to the ER. We met with a plastic surgeon there and she stitched it right up. It was late at night and Jonny was such a good sport! She didn't need any medication and when the lady when poking her eye with a needle to put in the numbing cream she held so still. She probably poked her 10-15 times and Jonny just flinched a tiny bit each time but didn't cry or move. They had a nurse in there to hold her down while she did it but he said he didn't even really need to since she was so good. After the stitch she got a popsicle and a Curious George monkey which she loved and quickly fell asleep when we got in the car to go home.
I had our good friend and old neighbor, Vera, commission two paintings for me. I wanted them in our piano room and thought it would be so lovely if she did them! She loved painting them for us and thanked me many times for having her artwork in our house. We had them over for dinner and she loved seeing them on the wall! We also adopted a maple tree through the nature center again this year. We went and tapped the tree and got it all set to collect the maple sap. The girls had fun and it seemed like a really quick season but still fun to collect the sap each week.
