We have been planning this camping trip since February since you always have to get your tickets way ahead of time, but we made it back to Alger Island! We had come here with Brooklyn friends 4 years before and we made it back with new friends this year. We invited a few families but last minute only one was able to make it and it was so nice to spend the camping days with Delsa and her kids. She is such a strong woman and it was fun getting to know her better and her kids were good to help out. Alger Island is fun because you have to rent a boat and take all your camping gear on the boat to the island with you. There are no cars that go to the island so you also don't have to worry about animals on the island. We set up camp and explored around the island for a bit before jumping in the water and playing. We made dinners together each night which was fun. The next day we took the boat out and explored the lake, finding a rope swing that everyone loved. Spencer dropped me off at the dock so I could still get my run in since I'm training for a race and it worked perfect that they went off and swam for a bit while I ran and then they came back to the dock to get me. I love camping with the kids even though it's a pretty sleepless night but there is something about being outdoors and barefoot that is so fun and nostalgic.
More August and First Day of School

We said goodbye to our "Castle" in Brooklyn. It was a sad day and I may have cried while driving to sign the selling papers. We sold it to the renters that were already there which was a nice transition but still so hard to say goodbye to our apartment that we loved so much. I had the two younger girls with me so we went by it, said goodbye, gave it a hug and thanked it for keeping us safe and together as a family. We have so many family memories there that we will cherish forever and I am so grateful for our time in Brooklyn. Thinking about it always makes me a little heartsick to live there again and I don't know if that feeling will ever go away. I sure loved that place!
More happenings: Lenny making Heart of Tafiti cookies in her Moana dress, first day of school for Charley (3rd grade) and Bergen (1st grade). And first day of preschool for Lenny! She is doing the "old 3's" class this year at a new preschool, St. Mark's.
