At the end of August we flew to Portland for my brothers wedding. It was such a nice trip to see family! We just love Montana who he married and I loved seeing all my sisters (except Megan wasn't there :(.. We got there a few days early and drove to Cannon Beach one day. Sarah and her three older kids met us there and we went to the beach, had some yummy tacos for lunch and then went to the Tilamook Cheese Factory for some ice cream and cheese samples. They are re-doing the place you can do tours so we weren't able to do a tour but they have a few thing to see in the main building so we could read a few things about how amazing cows are :)
The next day was Parker's wedding. It was a beautiful day and the Portland Temple is beautiful! I have never been to that temple and it was gorgeous with all the marble everywhere. Parker and Monty's sealing was really nice and then afterward we did pictures and then had a yummy luncheon at a Mexican place. They had some killer guac! I was able to catch up with extended family at the luncheon and talk with my cousin Tiff whom I love! So good seeing her and her husband Terry.
The next day we got to hand out with the Dunns and Rowberrys so we went to the OMSI where there was a really cool Pompeii exhibit happening. It showed amazing pictures and videos of the day the volcano erupted. There was also actual molds of people that had died in different positions from the ash and lava. The volcano happened so fast, the town wasn't able to get away fast enough. The kids also got to explore a few other rooms where there were different kid exhibits that were actually really cool!
When we were in Portland we took full advantage of the food! We went to so many food trucks and Salt and Straw twice! The food trucks were so cool. They had everything and they are all around the city. They are in pods all around that are a whole block long. My favorite was this pad thai and smoothie bowl that I got. So good! The nice thing about food trucks is that we were all able to get different things. The girls we would get noodles or pizza, I usually got a salad or smoothie bowl and Spencer would try something different too.
After Parker's wedding some of us headed up to Multnomah Falls. The girls fell asleep on the way over there so we took turns looking at the falls and then Dani went and sat in the car so we could hike up a ways and see a different view from the higher bridge. It was pretty!
We had such a good time in Portland and loved exploring the city. It was even better being with family and being able to see so many sisters and their families. They girls loved spending time with their cousins too! We also had a pool in our hotel and swam just about every night. The girls loved it!
I also love this picture my sister Sarah snapped. We were getting done with the luncheon and both girls needed to go to the bathroom so we squatted with them behind or rental car and they went. This is pretty normal in NYC and it captures our life right now so good! :)
