Dallas with the Deeres!

8.18.2017

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit my sister Megan and her family in Dallas and help them for a  week. Megan was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer and had to deliver her baby girl at 34 weeks. Madeleine is such a miracle baby and was in the NICU for about 4 weeks and then came home. She actually came home the day I got there so I was able to spend the first few days with them as they had Madeleine at home. It was such a joy to be with the Deere's. They are handling their situation remarkably well with high spirits all around. Jackson is always happy and helpful. Megan is so humble and gracefully taking each day with ease and optimism and Madeleine is such a fighter. She is the cutest little baby and I loved snuggling with her while I was there. I took some newborn photos while I was there too! I helped with cooking dinners, night feedings with Madeleine and went grocery shopping for them. We were able to walk around the lake that is near their house which was nice and I ran a few mornings too.
Spencer held down the fort while I was gone! I also had some amazing friends that took the girls each day and watched them.
My friend sent me this of her daughter Ella doing some makeup on the girls. They loved it! :)
It was so much fun being in Dallas and meeting little Madeleine. She and Megan continue to do well and Megan is almost done with her chemo treatments. She is a champ!!
While I was there, there was a solar eclipse. This was a huge deal all across America. We weren't in the total eclipse part of the country, but we did go outside and the shadows looked like crescents and we cut a hole in a piece of paper and the shadow was a crescent too! It was pretty cool! We borrowed some guys' glasses that he had to look through and the moon was orange. In places like Idaho and Oregon where it was a total eclipse, it went dark for a period and people said it was amazing!
