End of October and 1 month with Lenny

10.31.2017

On Halloween day, my parents flew out and Spencer's parents flew into town. They stayed for a week and it was so nice to have them. They helped out so much and cooked dinners, read books and played lots of games with the girls and took them out and about. It was so nice to have all the help! The girls got to open a few presents that Grandma Ellingson had brought and they loved seeing each day what they got to open. She had games and little things for them to do which kept them busy. It was really thoughtful of her! On Halloween night we walked up Franklin Ave and stopped at all the shops and stores to trick-or-treat. The girls got so much candy and had a lot of fun!
I am loving Charley's art work these days. This says I love you. Gramma, Bart. She is sounding out words so well now and drawing with lots of body parts. I love it!!
I started my month of mom preschool and it was so fun! I had the letters I, J, K, L and each week I would focus on just one letter. Here are the girls doing a math activity for I is for ice cream. These girls are so sweet and cute together. It's been a lot of fun and super low-key yet educational.
Spencer flew to Idaho for a weekend and went duck hunting with some friends. It was my first time with all three girls alone and it wasn't too bad! We definitely missed Spencer but I am so glad he was able to go hunting and spend some time with his friends. I am sure he enjoyed the break as well.
Our very best friends who moved to Colorado came to Brooklyn to visit! They are thinking of moving back (yay!!!) and we had dinner one night with them and Jennifer took the girls to the Children's Museum. It was so good to see their family and catch up. I have missed them so much!
This picture cracks me up! We took the girls to a friends house one day and she watched them for a few hours. When Spencer went to pick them up this is how he found them. They were watching a show with these funny glasses on eating from a big bowl of goldfish. Bergen has just one shoe on and they couldn't be more happier! :)
Love my little stomach sleeper. She sleeps so much better on her tummy!

The first two weeks with THREE GIRLS!

10.26.2017

Well we are two weeks in and it is CRAZY! Three kids is no joke and is a lot harder than going from 1 to 2 for me. I need about 5 more arms all the time. We are managing well and luckily Spencer has taken the last week and a half off. After we came home from the hospital, I stayed in bed for a week straight. I didn't cook, do laundry leave my room! I stayed in bed and held/fed Lenny, caught up on pod-casts, read a book and enjoyed some one-on-one time with Lenny. It was really nice getting to know her and figuring out nursing. I am really thankful Spencer was able to take Charley and Bergen for the week and do everything for them. By the end of the week I was going a little stir-crazy but I really think staying in bed help me heal physically and slowly ease into having 3 kids instead of jumping right in. It help my bleeding stop a lot faster than with the first two and it helped my milk to come in and stay! I have been able to pump a lot for Megan which has been nice to have so much to share. Since I didn't get out of bed, the girls would bring games to play and books to read. Charley would also take lots of pictures for me to show me since I didn't leave my room. This bottom picture is a picture of her "special oatmeal" that she wanted to show me:) Spencer made overnight oats overnight so we would have it in the morning. It is soooo good! We also had so many people bring meals each night which was nice. Spencer took the girls shopping for warmer fall clothes, took them out on errands, to the playground, to Charley's gymnastics and to church. He was a champ!
The girls, for the most part, have really liked having Lenny here! They love holding her and getting me diapers and wipes. Bergen seems to be having a little hard time with the change. She has been throwing more tantrums and acting out a bit more so I took her out on a little date. We went and got ice cream and spent a little one-on-one time together. She is such a sweet girl with such a big personality. I love her!
The girls went to the dollar store and each picked out something with their coins they have been earning. The each chose a pair of goggles and love wearing them! They wear them everywhere- to the park, riding their bikes, eating dinner and in the bathtub.
My mom came out for 12 days and visited and helped so much! She helped with all the cleaning, laundry, cooking and taking care of the older girls. She also helped so much with Lenny, holding her and putting her to sleep. It was really nice to have her here and help so much. She is such  do-er and sees a need and does it. I didn't have to ask her to help or do anything.. she just saw something that needed to be done and did it. I really love this about my mom (and dad!) and think my sisters and I learned this from them. My mom was a champ and took the girls out to the playground, to the grocery store and took Charley to her gymnastics class on the subway. The girls loved having Gramma B here and read so many stories with her and played lots of games. The last few days Gramma B was here my dad joined the fun! We went out to the library and children's museum with him.
These photos were fun to compare. In each set there is a photo of each girl. The first is Bergen (top left), Lenny (top right) and Charley (bottom). The second one is Bergen (top left), Charley (bottom left) and Lenny right. The third picture is Lenny (top left), Charley (top right) and Bergen bottom.
There was a Halloween Party at Charley's gymnastics building one night so we went with Gramma B and Bart to that. The girls got their faces painted and had fun playing games.
My mom made Lenny a bueatiufl pin-wheel quilt. She has made a quilt for each girl and I love how they all match in some way. Here is a picture of each girl with their quilt. While my mom was here she also made Lenny's blessing dress. She is so talented and I love learning from her.
Charley has been doing so well with riding her bike! I feel like right after Lenny was born she got the hang of riding it all by herself. She can now start and stop on her own too. She loves riding her bike now and it's so nice being able to have her ride without help. She is good to stop at each crosswalk and wait for me too.
