Glamping fun in Woodstock, NY

7.13.2016

This is such a picture overload but I had to document our AMAZING trip up to Accord and Woodstock with Dani! I knew she had always wanted to stay in a yurt, so I found a place on Airbnb for us to stay at while she was here. We decided to make a long weekend out of it and stay in a tipi as well! It was so. much. fun! The yurt was HUGE and actually had a lot of space inside. It had a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and loft with a bed. There was a fire-pit outside also. The yurt was on a really big property with lots of animals (horses, chickens, goats, bunnies) and the owners were just really sweet and down to earth people. They made us feel super welcome. It was so nice to be out in open spaces. At night we caught fireflies, talked around the fire and ate some yummy tin foil dinners! There was lots of time to relax and take it all in! It was a perfect vacation and still only 2 hours away from NYC. We went swimming in the local water-hole and the girls loved it! For Father's Day I made Spencer a yummy coconut cream pie. We had it one night with our tin foil dinners and it was so YUM! We couldn't keep it for the next day so Spencer had it for breakfast too :)
The next day after we got there we went berry picking at a local farm. We got tons of strawberries and snap peas! There was also a HUGE bouncy trampoline in the ground that Charley bounced on. Dani (like she does) bought a strawberry rhubarb pie for breakfast and a jug of milk. She also bought a HUGE chocolate chip cookie. The thing was bigger than my hand!
While the girls took their naps, Dani and I went on a really fun hike. It's called the Lemon Squeeze and we loved it! It's fun because you aren't really hiking but scrambling, climbing and squeezing through rocks. There are ladders, rocks to go over, under, and through. It's marked really well or else you would get lost very easily. It was fun too because there was obviously easier routes but the route they have you go on is a lot more fun. Like instead of going around a huge rock, you climb up and over. Or you go under and through a little crevice. At one point (the Lemon Squeeze) you go through this super long and narrow passage way and then you have to climb up these really tall ladders to get all the way out. We had to hurry through the hike since we didn't want to leave Spencer with the girls too long so we had fun using our par-core ninja skills and jumping/kicking/punching the air as we went! :) When you get to the top, there is a beautiful 360 degree view of the country side.
Our last night, we went to the town of Woodstock and stayed in a tipi! It was a pretty magical day/night as well. Our tipi was so much fun to stay in. It was a great set-up right by the water with a fire pit as well. The girls did so well sleeping in different places! The town of Woodstock was really neat to tour around. There are so many fun-loving, kind hippies! They are all from the 60's too and just stayed in Woodstock. There was a drum circle that we went to and everyone was just dancing and playing drums and loving life. The town was super chill and just everything went.
