Halloween 2015

11.19.2015

This year for Halloween we had two events. We had our ward Chili Cook-off and Halloween night with trick-or-treating and the Halloween Parade. It was a lot of fun this year since Charley some-what got how to tick-or-trick. I had been thinking of having her be Annie for a while and I just decided to go with it last minute since I couldn't find another costume for her. It was really simple to put together. My friend had a red dress and then I just safety pinned the white collar and sash around her waist. We talked about how all of her friends were going to be dressed up in consumes and how she was dressed up as Annie! She actually really liked it and had fun dressing up and seeing everyone in costumes. At our ward party, Spencer won 2nd place for his chili! It was really good. And then Halloween night we walked around Park Slope and went door to door to all the shops on the Avenues and Charley got loaded with candy. We also walked around the brownstones in that area and she got even more candy! After trick-or-treating we stayed for the Halloween Parade and then walked (actually we ran home because Bergen was such a mess and so tired by this point). It was about 2 miles from our house but to us that is just a walk down the street. I love living in the city for just that reason: we get to walk (and run) everywhere!
Anyway, Bergen was a cute little pumpkin that I again threw together last minute. It was an easy, fun Halloween this year! After we got home from trick-or-treating, we threw most all of Charley's candy away and left her about 10 pieces. She didn't even notice the next day and was just so happy to find some candy in there. Every so often she will see it above the microwave and ask for a piece and I will let her choose one.
Another thing I love here in Brooklyn is that we started trick-or-treating at 3pm! Everyone starts early here to get done before it gets too dark.
