Valentines Weekend

2.24.2015

This year for Valentines, we had an all weekend celebration. Spencer said he wanted to take me to the Lion King Broadway and we knew it would be crazy the day of, so we went a few days early. Lion King is impossible to get discount tickets to (which is how we have bought all of our other Broadway tickets so far), so we splurged this Valentines and bought some amazing seats to the show. Before the Broadway, we stopped at our favorite Vietnamese place, Bahnmigos, and got some Pho soup and bubble tea drinks. This Pho is AMAZING!!!! and it's only a few blocks away from our apartment.
Then we took the subway to Times Square and saw Lion King. It was by far one of my favorite performances. The singing, dancing and whole production is unreal. Some of the scenes they reenact are amazing! We loved it.

After the show, we stopped at Momofuku Milk Bar (a place I have been wanting to try) for a compost cookie, crack pie and cereal milk ice cream. Spencer loved his cereal milk ice cream dipped in frosted flakes and I loved my compost cookie. It has pretty much everything in it! (chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, caramel, potatoes chips, oats, sugar, butter... you get the idea).
Then on Valentines Day we had some yummy crepes for breakfast and opened our packages from family! Then we hopped on the subway and explored the city. Exploring is one of our favorite things to do.. especially Spencer's. If it involves walking around China Town and trying new food, he is in. China Town has some amazing places to eat! So we went to a very highly rated yelp spot called Joe's Shanghai and got soup dumplings. They were AMAZING!! We also got some sesame chicken and dumplings to try, but they were just ok. We will definitely be back for the soup dumplings. I am glad we learned before we got there how to eat them, because it is sort of an art. :) Then that night we made some eggplant pizzas and a yummy cheesecake with strawberries. Spencer let me rent a chick-flick movie from Net-Flix and we called it a night. Such a great Valentines this year!

The following Monday was a holiday, so we continued our city adventures and explored Queens. We had high intensions to leave the city and drive through the country and some neighborhoods up in Weschester County, but we only made it 3 miles to Queens when we had to stop at the Arepa Lady for some Colombian Arepa's. We have been wanting to come here for a while now and it was a perfect excuse to stop. The Arepa's and Cachapas were out of this world!!! Seriously soooo good! We ordered 3 different kinds of arepa's and when we were done, we looked at each other and said, let's get more! SO we ordered 2 more and were stuffed by the end.
P.S. This girl has chosen to wear her tutu for the past week now! Every day when she wakes up, she will say "tutu" until we put it on! :)
