Charley and I had been planning a trip to Utah this fall since I found out my sister was having her first baby. I wanted to go out and help her and see friends and family. It also just so happened that we planned our mama/sisters trip (a post coming soon!) and she decided to bless her baby boy that weekend too. SO it was a very fun filled couple weeks in Utah. I also got to visit my lovely 97 year old Grandpa which was such a treat as he is getting really frail and old.
I have two sisters that live in Utah and Spencer's parents live there as well, so we stayed at my sister Bailey's house and at Spencer's parents house a few nights. We got to hang out with my other sister Megan a lot too since she is close in Provo. One of the first nights we were there, we went to the Provo Food Truck Round-up and it was really good! I got a gourmet grilled cheese and a yummy smoothie!
There was also lots of holding this sweet little boy!!
It was my sister Megan's 25th birthday so we went out to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate her big day! We went around the table and said 25 things we loved about Megan and we easily could have done another 25. Megan is such an amazing sister, friend, teacher and example! She is so kind- hearted, loving, easy going and FUN. Charley just gravitates to her like a second mother and I think it's so cute! (It must be the red hair).
I was also able to see so many good friends that I haven't seen for a year! One day I got together with my old roommates from Sugar House. It was so good to catch up with them and see/meet their sweet husbands. Kristen and Marianne are two amazing women who are going places in this world!
Snuggles after bedtime.
I also chopped my hair while I was there. My good friend and runner buddy cuts hair so I had her chop it off to get a new look. I love how it turned out! Thanks Chandi! Speaking of running, it was so nice to get up at 6am and run with Chandi. I have missed running with her so much! It was so good to catch up and we just started where we left off like I wasn't even gone for 11 months... it was amazing!
I also got to see my good friend Madison who I didn't get a picture with, but it was so nice to catch up with her and hear all about her life! She is such a sweet girl and so good with kids! AND I had lunch at Gilled Zucchini with my friend Amy one day. That place is so good and Amy is such a great friend. I loved talking with her and probably could have for another 3 hours!
Then Charley and I went to Highland to spend some time with Spencer's parents, Mark and DeAnn. We had so much fun with them going to the Curiosity Museum and Farm Country! We also did a little shopping at the Outlet Malls where I got some good deals for Charley who doesn't seem to fit into any of her clothes anymore.
The Curiosity Museum is AMAZING!! I loved this place so much and was really impressed with it. Charley loved it too! There are so many interactive toys for kids of all ages. She of course, liked the water room the best.
That night we had dinner with a few of Spencer's brothers' family and it was fun to see more family! The next day we went to Farm Country with Mark and DeAnn and Charley got to pet a few animals and rode a pony. It was really cute to watch her screech and scream in excitement of all the animals and when she got on the pony!:)
DeAnn bought some food pellets to feed the goats and Charley loved how they licked her hand to get the food.
DeAnn has such a great toy room that Charley loved! She could have played down there forever with all the new toys she found!
I also got together with my good friends Jessica and Sarah from school! Ah I love these girls so much and miss them!
Charley and I also visited my old school that I taught at, Channing Hall. I was able to see some good friends/teachers/students and my principal. Somedays I really miss teaching and having a classroom of my own, but wouldn't give up leaving Charley for it.
Charley finally seemed to warm up to baby JD like the last day we were there. She was really hesitant at first and hated it when I would hold him. She would scream and cry when I held him :( but by the end, she was calling him "baby" and gave him a hug and kiss! It was too cute.
baby scowls?
Charley looks so sweet with JD...time for another Ellingson baby ;). You're rocking that hair cut!
