Brooklyn Bridge Park, Mermaid Parade and Free concerts in the park

7.10.2014

We have been busy these past few weeks with lots of traveling and fun events going on. I met up with Spencer again in the city one day and we went to Sweet Green. It is the BEST salad place ever! We both were surprised at how good this place is. The line was pretty long, but there were tons of workers ready and it moved pretty fast! I guess there is a line every day around lunch time because so many people love this place. We are definitely going back!
We love going up to our roof after dinner when the sun is going down. It's windy up there and cools you right down! Charley loves it too.
More splash pad fun! There are so many splash pads here! We have been checking out different ones and Charley loves them all. She just loves water! I took her to the local outside pool for the first time and she was splashing up a storm. She had no fear and was practically jumping out of my hands with a huge smile on her face. She is definitely a water baby and I hope she continues to love water as she grows.
We love of biking these days! It's so much easier than driving and driving just makes me angry with people swerving, cutting you off, honking at you.. and the traffic! oh the traffic!
There are so many free concerts, so we rode our bikes to the park and listened to The National. We didn't stay long because Charley was getting tired, but on the way there we picked up some Mexican food we had been wanting to try and went to the park to listen to some music and have a picnic.
A few weekends ago there was a Mermaid Parade down at Coney Island. It's a pretty bizarre place to be but we had fun people watching. People were dressed in all sorts of crazy outfits/everyday get-up and Spencer and I joked that we could have came here naked and no one would have blinked an eye! Probably one of the craziest things we have seen/done/witnessed! After the parade, we went down to the beach and Spencer jumped in the water (freezing!!)
Charley is at this stage right now!:) Takes everything out of anything just because and then moves on to something else.
She is also really into this downward-dog pose recently. One night after bath time she was doing it naked so I had to snap a pic!
Last weekend we rode our bikes to the Brooklyn Bridge Park where there are different piers and it was amazing!! I never realized what a gem the Brooklyn Bridge Park is. There is so much to do! There is a huge splash pad, playground, toddler playground, a sandbox the size of a football field, BQQ picnic areas, a pop-up pool, a carousal and more!
Yummy ice cream!
soccer fields, hand ball bouts, basketball courts!
kayaking
