We drove down to Charleston, SC to visit our good friends the Murphys! On the way there we stopped and said hi to Spencer's friend Craig Church. We brought Jackie and he did so well on the car ride down! The first night we slept near Craigs house and it was a fun 80's house with an old Mario Kart game the girls could play and it was decorated in cool 80's colors and records and decor! The girls loved it! The next day we were going to explore Raleigh a bit before heading to Charleston but it was rainy and the children museum was sold out for the day. So we made our way to a farmers market and then hit the road to our Airbnb in Charleston. It was a great place near a sketchy train but all was fine! It had a fenced in backyard for Jackie and it was spacious for all of us. We spent the week exploring Charleston and playing with the Murphys. The first two nights we hosted dinner at our house since they were actually moving that same weekend into a house they had bought! We got to see my friend Katie and her two boys who live there also. Each day I would walk around a park that was close and Spencer would get up and workout at the same place Brian worked out at. We explored downtown Charleston, took a carriage ride, went to pineapple fountain, went to a candy store and let the girls get some candy and ice cream. We also explored a really cool beach called Botany Bay where there are tons of conch shells and driftwood. You can't take the conch shells home with you so they are literally everywhere which is really cool to see. It ended up raining on us and the tide was coming in so we couldn't play on the driftwood for very long but it was a lot of fun! Bergen and Jonny were my little explorers with me. They loved it! We went to a plantation with the Murphys one day and had fun walking around, seeing an alligator!, and getting a tour of where the workers used to live.
We celebrated Easter twice! Once before we left for Charleston and then on actual Easter in Charleston. Our ward hosted an Easter Egg Hunt and last minute we moved it inside since it was raining. Everything turned out great and we pulled everything together perfectly! It was a fun morning and we hid LOTS of eggs around the church. Then everyone got a donut and played in the gym for a bit. We came home and had our own Easter Egg hunt outside. We put candy and coins into the eggs and Spencer and I hid them around our backyard. The girls had fun finding the eggs and collecting everything from inside their eggs. Then in Charleston the Easter Bunny visited the girls on Easter Morning. They each got a new dress, some Spring outfits, shoes and a new waterbottle and some candy. It was fun to celebrate in Charleston too! We dyed eggs with Violet and Emmeline and went to church that morning. Later that night we had dinner at the Murphys house and enjoyed catching up with them! We just love their family. On our last day there we found a dog friend beach and took Jackie. He LOVED the water and sand and met another dog and they ran and played for a long time together. It was a perfect ending to our trip. I do have to mention, one day we left Jackie outside in the fenced in backyard and we were gone for about 6 hours. Well we came home and he got OUT of the fenced in yard and was just sitting in the front yard waiting for us! When we pulled up and saw him I got teary eyed and we all ran out of the car and hugged him. He was such a good dog for staying put and not running off looking for us! I am so grateful nothing happened to him! Gosh it gave us a scare!
