Mother's Day and Bergen's Birthday

5.15.2021

We had a special Mother's Day with our family. Spencer made me a nice breakfast and dinner on Sunday and the girls made me sweet cards and coupons. It was a great Mother's Day and I feel so special and lucky to have FOUR beautiful and healthy and rockstar girls. They are independent, happy, kind, silly, loud and wonderful little creatures. It's such a joy to be their mama! And I still love that they all call me mama or mommy. I hope that never changes. For Sunday Dinner we went up to the Parker's Lakehouse and the men made us dinner. The grilled some meat and it was a fun day with friends!

Bergen you are SIX!!! I can't believe it. I told you not to go to bed last night and you still did and turned SIX!!! My goodness how fast this year has gone and how smarter and more beautiful you have gotten. You are such a beautiful girl and I love you!! For your birthday we painted birdhouses, had a scavenger hunt, played yard games and had cake and ice cream. I make an upside down ice cream cone cake for you birthday and it was a hit! You and your sisters helped me make it and it was a fun process.

Bergen you are such a wonderful girl. You love being with people. You are such a people person and I love listening to you with friends over because you just like to have fun and be with people. Even when it isn't your friend, you are so good to include people and make them feel comfortable in our house. You are really good at making friends fast too! Bergen you are an awesome soccer player too! This year has been so fun to watch you play soccer and shoot goals and run fast. About once a game, you would have a fast break to the goal and would dribble it all the way and score! It was awesome! Bergen you are my nature girl and love being outside. You love finding bunnies and turtles. You love lifting up rocks and looking for creatures. You love going outside to the pond or the Nature Center or on hikes to be in the outdoors and exploring. Bergen you are such a good mama to Jonny. You always have been but you love being with her, helping her and holding her. I can always count on your to help her when she needs it. You also love crafting and making things. I can always find you at the table with paper, scissors, tape and markers. You are my crafter!!

Happy Birthday my sweet girl!! I love you and am so proud of you!

May and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

5.06.2021

We decided to buy a bouncy house and it has made for lots of hours of fun! We wanted to get one for Bergen's birthday and saw that they are about $200 to rent so I thought we should just buy one since we will be having lots of birthdays and gatherings. The girls have loved it! There is a slide and ball pit area. More May happenings... Jonny LOVES bows. She asks for a bow anytime she sees on or just wants one in her hair which is all the time. She will want 2 or 3 at a time. For FHE Lenny wanted to make a cake and so at the library she checked out a book that had all these really intense and creative cakes. We settled on this sheep one that looked semi-doable. It was fun to put the popcorn on for the sheeps wool! It was a fun experiment. Every since we moved to New Canaan we have consistently gone to the library once a week. I don't think we have missed a week honestly! It's been so fun and nice to have a round of new books. It was really easy this whole since since Wednesdays were half day and we would just go after school was done at noon. It was perfect to get new books and kept the girls ready and engaged in lots of new books. Spencer and I even got new books to try out and read. At the beginning of the year we made a goal to read a book together each month. We did really good the first 4 months and then May got hard with business and such. I really liked it though. I am not a reader but love a good book so it was nice to get lost in a book and for the girls to see me read!

For Memorial Day we went to Mystic and explored the town. We went to a yummy bakery, the Seaport Museum and walked around downtown to the candy store. It was a fun day and the girls did well exploring as they haven't done that in a while. It's been sad seeing them get out of touch with walking everywhere like in Brooklyn. They sued to be champ walkers everywhere and now whine if we have to walk a block! For Bergen's birthday she got a butterfly kit and so we ordered some caterpillars and watched them create their cocoons and then broke out into butterflies! It was super fun to watch the process and see Bergen get excited about it.

I took the girls out of school for the day and drove down to Brooklyn to enjoy the Botanical Gardens. It's one of my favorite days and I hope they always want to come with me! We parked close to our neighborhood and walked up to the Gardens. We met my good friend Kate and her boys and enjoyed the Gardens for the day. Then Jonny fell asleep in the stroller while we walked around and got a popsicle from a vendor and went to Mt. Prospect Playground. The girls ran around and played and enjoyed our old stomping grounds and then we stopped for pho soup at our favorite Bahnmigos. It was such a wonderful day that filled my soul to the brim! I love Brooklyn so much and miss it so much! It was so good to be back with the girls and just enjoy a day in Brooklyn and see all the sights and smell and feel everything! Ahh I just loved it. The energy in Brooklyn compares to no other place and I will always hold a special place in my heart for the city. I don't think the girls will ever know how much I sacrificed leaving my home of Brooklyn to move to the burbs and have a good school and yard and house for them. If it were up to me I would have stayed in Brooklyn forever but alas we needed good schools and good friends and examples. I know it all worked out how it should but it has been really hard to move away from my happy place.
