San Diego for Thanksgiving

11.26.2018

Each year for the past 5 years we have done Thanksgiving with our friend Clint. He has always come to New York and spent Thanksgiving with us, but this year him and his wife Sam are in California since he is in Medical School. We decided to head to San Diego for Thanksgiving so we could spend the week exploring and do Thanksgiving with them. It was a really fun trip! We found a cool home in San Diego to exchange with and we loved it. There was a playhouse out back that the girls could play for hours in. We spent the mornings working out and playing back there and then each day we went out and did something different. We went to the San Diego temple, SeaWorld with our friends, the Zoo, ate lots of tacos and went to the beach at La Jolla Cove. We also hiked Torrey Pines and went to the Mormon Battalion in Old Town. Liberty Market was also a cool market with lots of restaurants and food inside that we checked out. Our absolute favorite tacos were at a place called The Taco Stand. We even went twice! SOOO good.
The Zoo was really fun and huge! The girls loved it and it was really good weather. SeaWorld was also really fun. We met up with our good friends who also have 3 kids and they are all close in age. Spencer and Casey worked at WorkFront together and we have gone on a few work trips with them so it was fun to see them again and catch up!

Then on Thanksgiving day we got up super early to drive to LA where Clint and Sam are. It was a crazy day because about 45 minutes into our drive we got a flat tire. We had rented a car so we called Triple A and had to have a tow truck come out and get the car (and Spencer) and then go all the way back to the airport and get a new car. The lady on the phone said the tow truck would be where we were in 90 minutes but luckily after we got off the phone with the lady, the tow truck called and said he was only 5 minutes away! It was such a relief! Spencer and Charley got in the tow truck with the guy and Bergen, Lenny and I went to a local Starbucks and just waited. We had to wait about 1.5 hours and then they came and got us and we were back on the road. :) The girls were actually really good in Starbucks and the time went by fairly fast. We went to Clint and Spencer's friends house for Thanksgiving dinner and it was fun! Charley made a friend with the girl who lived there and everyone had a good time eating, chatting and relaxing. It was a good day!
