Brooklyn Half and Aunt Dani is here to visit

Dani came into town for the Brooklyn half. It was pretty rainy all week so we weren't able to get out and do a ton but we did get out with the girls a few days to do some things. We went to the Brooklyn Pier and had pizza, SweetGreen and let the girls do the carousel. Then we went to get our race packets for the half marathon. We also went to Anastasia one night on Broadway. It was just ok.. not our favorite but still great singing and dancing. 

The race was VERY wet and rainy. We had garbage bags over us for the start which actually kept us really dry! I kept mine on for the start and all the way till mile 6. I don't mind the rain and it worked out ok. I would have much rather it be rainy and wet than scorching hot. Spencer and the girls were at mile 7 to cheer me on which was amazing!! The girls were pretty wet and miserable and when I ran by they didn't really understand what was going on. :) Dani left me at mile 4 but we were able to meet back up at the finish. My time was 1:37 and Dani got a 1:45. After the race we went into the bathroom and took off our shirts and put them under the dryer. It helped get us a little warm since it was so cold and our clothes were wet! 

Bergen is THREE!

Our Bergen girl trend THREE!!! I love this girl so much. She is such a huge ball of energy, grit, adventure, joyful spirit, playful jokester and cuddle bug. Everyone that meets Bergen just loves her. She is at the best age where he voice is the cutest and she talks so sweet and innocent. She mixes up words (anything and nothing.. like "I am doing anything".. instead of "I am doing nothing". She loves the weirdest foods like frozen spinach, quinoa, salt (yes plain salt), and seaweed. She doesn't love sweets and would much rather have a piece of bread or fruit than something sweet. Bergen changes her outfits about 10 times a day, likes to dress up and play with her sister Charley and is the best big sister to Lenny. She loves to go in her crib with her, pick her up and give her a toy if she is sad. Bergen loves to help me in the kitchen and "try ALL the ingredients" (especially the salt and flour), ride her scooter and strider bike and play at the playground. She is super strong and can swing on the bars and do a flip, jump up onto the bars and almost do the monkey bars. Bergen knows all her letters, numbers and shapes and knows most of the sounds of the letters too. She loves reading books, coloring, and cuddling with Daddy. Bergen is a teaser, loves to get a reaction out of people but is also super sensitive to others' feelings.

This year Bergen wanted a purple cake for her birthday. We had a small birthday party at home with Aunt Dani. It was a fun day. 

Mother's Day, the Beach, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

For Mother's Day this year we went on a fun Dinner Hop. Spencer chose 4 different places to go and eat in Williamsburg. It was so fun to hop around that area and try different foods. We usually just share a plate so we can save room for the next restaurant. We had some yummy tacos, Mediterranean, and Odd Fellows Ice cream. He did have a cheese place on the list too but they were closed :( Then on Sunday morning he made raspberry scones and a savory egg dish. Soo good!! And then for dinner we had Kale Bowls which I am loving these days. You just pile on kale, veggies, quinoa, nuts and make a good sauce to put on top. It was a good day. 
I love being a mom so much! It's very rewarding, fun, crazy and joyful all at the same time. It's an exhausting thankless job but I really enjoy doing it each day and creating this family with Spencer of strong, kind and loving women. 

One of my favorite days of the year is going to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. We met a few friends there and got to play at the gardens with the beautiful cherry blossoms behind us. Such a great day!

We also had a beach day with Spencer when he had the day off. We took our stroller aka minivan piled high with beach stuff to the beach for the day. The girls love the beach and water and had fun playing on the sand and beach.
