January in Colorado

1.31.2017

We had a very busy and fun January. Right from Washington, the girls and I flew to Colorado to stay with my sister Sarah and her kids for 3 weeks. It was so good to be with her and her family. I am so happy we were able to stay for such a long period of time to really get into the routine and help her out. It was a little challenging having my girls there as well, but in some ways it helped for the cousins to play with each-other. Bergen and Luke are only 2 weeks apart so it was like having a pair of twins. They were basically on the same schedule which helped. We would get up around 7am and wake up Grace for school and then I would go downstairs and make some breakfast with my girls and Luke. Then we would wake up Max and Claire for school and Jane usually got up around then too. We had breakfast together, read scriptures, said prayers and did the hustle of the morning routine trying to get everyone off to school. I signed Charley up for swimming lessons that she did Tuesday and Thursday which was a lot of fun for her! Bergen was a little sad not being able to get into the water, but we went to the Rec-Center on the weekends so she could play in the water. Bergen LOVED it! She is such a water baby. She would go under water and come up happily with a smile on her face! She loved putting her face in the water and splashing around. The Rec-Center is really close to Sarah's house and is really nice! We went a few times we were there with the kids.
After lunch, we would put Luke and Bergen down for a nap and Charley and I would go out for a run with the stroller. It was a nice time to get away while the babies were napping and for me and Charley to have some time together. We would usually always stop at a playground and she would play for a bit. There are trails all along Sarah's house which is really nice too! We would go on different paths each day and they would always loop back up to her house. After the kids got home from school, it was making dinner each night, homework and cleaning the kitchen.
After getting all the kids in bed, I would usually work on Bergen's quilt. I am still not done but it's getting there! :)
There was lots of playing at the playground, games inside, the library and following Bergen and Luke around so they didn't get into too much trouble. The weather was so nice when we were there too! It snowed the first day I was there but then it was up to the 50's the rest of the time which was so nice!
My best friend Jenn and her two little girls live about 45 minute from Sarah so one day Jennifer came and picked up Charley for the day. They played with toys, went to dance class and had fun together! It was so nice of her to come get Charley and take her for a day! I think Charley felt a little cooped up since we didn't get out too much at Sarah's and that is what she is used to. So it was a good change of scenery for her.
Another day we went down to Denver and met up with Jenn at the Children's Museum. This museum is way cool! We loved it. The girls were in heaven too! It was fun to meet up with Jenn again and chat. This is the only picture I ended up getting.. but they had so much fun!
Spencer flew in the last week we were there and it was sooooo good to see him! The kids were excited to see him too, especially Max! It think he prayed for Spencer to get here safely like every night. :) We had sushi night one night and Spencer taught the kids how to make sushi. They love sushi so it was fun to show them! And they loved it. Spencer also took Max to a Jazz vs. Nuggets basketball game. They were good buds while Spencer was here and played lots of legos and wrestling.  The last night I was there I got something small for each of the kids. We got Grace a bowl since Bergen actually broke one of hers while we were there. We got Claire a sketch pad since she loves drawing and is really good at it too! We got Max a little lego set to put together and Jane a cute plate since she let the girls share all her plates and cups with her. And then we got Luke some window stickers since he loved a set of Christmas ones that they had. We got Sarah some tea to keep her warm and cozy.
On my run, I ran next to the cemetery and visited Jim's grave. He doesn't have a headstone yet, but there is a sign and the kids's handprints on the cement by his grave. Love and miss that man so much!
The last Sunday we were there, we went up to Windsor, CO where Spencer's Grandpa, Aunt and Uncle live. We were able to visit with them and have Sunday dinner. It was so nice to see them and visit with his Grandpa. He seems to be doing really well and loved being with the girls. We went over to his house before we had dinner at his Aunt and Uncles and he showed us his reading collection. He basically reads all day and has a lot of books. He also had some really old Book of Mormons and other books from some of his ancestors. It was cute we asked him how old he was and at first he said, 98.. and we were both so amazed at how active he still is! But then he remembered that he was only 89 (which is still old but its as cute how he got the numbers mixed up). I always love seeing his Aunt and Uncle too. Dave and Barb are both amazing people! They have 11 kids and are so busy with their kids, church and soccer! They have a very welcoming vibe and love having people over for dinner. It was nice to chat with them and catch up.
Our last 3 days we went and spent some time with Brian and Jenn. They live in Lakewood which is only 15 minutes outside of Denver. They moved from Brooklyn last April and love it in Colorado. They have such a nice home and live in a really cool area. It's up in the mountains a bit but you still get a great view of the city. It was so fun to stay with them and spend time with their girls. Charley and Bergen get along really well with Violet and Emmeline so it was fun for them to play together. We went to the Children's Museum one morning which was fun. Brian and Spencer went rock climbing and one night we got a babysitter and went out to eat at a really nice restaurant. One afternoon me and Jennifer also went out and got a really great mani and pedi and then had dinner afterward together at True Kitchen. It was really good! It was so good to see my friend Jennifer. We clicked right away when we met here in Brooklyn and did so much together with our girls almost everyday. She is such a kind and loving person and I really admire and look up to her. She is a great mom and I loved spending time with her!

My girls

Sometimes I take photos on my camera and then forget to upload them to my computer.  I just found these gems! Oh I love my sweet girls! They are really sweet to each other and I love how Bergen lights up when she sees Charley. I think these were taken in July 2016 when Bergen had just turned 1 and Charley turned 3.
