July

7.29.2015

July was a good month. It was busy, but fun. Bergen took her first subway ride, we spent most days outside but some inside because it was too hot and humid. We spend most our time getting to a destination than actually being at the destination because Charley loves to stop every few feet along the way and look for ants or jump off small rocks or walk up stoop stairs. We went to lots of Forest School at the park, went to splash pads, snuggled babies and the potty training continues! The 4th of July brought pink eye for Charley so we ended up staying inside that day and doing a small BBQ by ourselves, but it was a perfect night after we put the kids to bed. Spencer and I walked up to our apt roof and we had the best view of the Macy's fireworks. It was a perfect way to spend the 4th of July!
Charley's hair is deceivingly long!

My 2 year old and 2 month old

7.25.2015

Yesterday when Spencer was talking to me he used the phrase, "the girls" and we both got a huge smile on our face. Something about multiple children/girls made us happy and giddy inside! I can't believe I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old. I feel very blessed and am snuggling my babies each day with gratitude and love. I am so grateful for a happy and healthy family and for 2 beautiful daughters. The days are busy and my nights are cut short but I love being a mom! Each day is an adventure exploring this city that we love. The day is mostly filled with playgrounds, splash pads, the "blue water" (pool), hanging out with friends, walking slow on the sidewalk, and eating lots of snacks. There is usually a meltdown or two. I am usually hot and sweaty pushing our double stroller around the city and by the time we get home and Charley is exhausted I end up carrying Bergen in the carseat in one arm and Charley in the other arm as we walk up to our third floor apt. Living in the city with children is not for the faint of heart, but it is definitely worth it with everything that comes with it. I love being able to walk everywhere! I love the library, children's museum, playgrounds and the park at my fingertips. I love having awesome neighbors where we can go up to our roof and BBQ and hang out. I love raising our daughters in such a culturally diverse place and seeing something new each day! Ok that was a sidetone thought, but here are some pictures I took of Charley in her element exploring the other day.

And some of my sweet Bergen!

Subway Train Birthday Party

7.23.2015

For Charley's birthday this year we had it with one of her best friends, James. He is only a few days older than her, so we decided to combined birthdays and make it a subway train theme. Both Charley and James love the subway and trains so it was perfect! On her big day, she woke up and her and Spencer went to get some birthday Donuts. When they came back, she opened presents at home from Gramma B and Bart and a few from us. Later that afternoon we had her birthday party where the adults were able to chat away and the kids found dirt, mud and sticks to play with at the park. It was a great day!
