around Brooklyn

10.26.2014

We have been loving this fall weather and soaking it in while it lasts. Before we know it, it will be snowing and freezing outside and we won't be able to enjoy all that Brooklyn has to offer. Our days have been consisting of going to the playground or park, meeting up with friends and going on dates with daddy! It's been a fun couple weeks for Charley. She is loving the playgrounds these days and I love that she can now walk around and I don't have to help her do everything. Right when we get to the park, she climbs down from the stroller and is off! It's great!
One rainy afternoon we went on to the Brooklyn Bridge Park with Spencer. Charley rode the carousel and was in heaven!
We also went to this yummy frozen yogurt place! It was super legit stuff and was actually yogurt that was frozen. I loved it!!
morning run view! :)
We went to the zoo a few weeks ago and Charley loved trying to catch the peacocks. We also pet some farm animals which she loved and saw the seals. Her stroller broke mid-walking and so I had to throw it in the garbage and have Spencer come pick us up:)
My sister gets a shout-out because she is amazing and super strong and a rockstar. She is biking from Canada to Mexico right now and is almost done. She is in Southern California and has done AMAZING!! She has been biking about 100 miles a day and camping along the way. She is the strongest woman I know!
Church with the littles... we tend to congregate in the back and let the kids have at it at snacks, toys and whatever else they can find in our bags.
Date night in Times Square. We went to see the movie "Meet the Mormons" which was really good! It was fun to go to Times Square to see it, even though that place is a mad-house.
We also took our 3-year photos and I LOVE how they turned out!! I will post more soon, but for now, here is a look at each year!
Charley fell in the tub the other night and got the worst bruise on her back. I felt so bad when it happened but she of course only cried for a little bit and then wanted to keep playing in the tub.

I made a new parenting discovery this week! So Charley doesn't like to sit in her high chair for very long to eat food until she gets distracted and wants to go do something else. Well I tried to put her food on a mini table we have and let her go to it when she wanted and then go play at her will. It worked like a charm! She ate so much more and would go play for a bit, and then come eat some dinner and then go back to playing... it was amazing!
One of Charley's favorite places in our house is on top of Spencer's desk. We usually have his door closed so he can work, but whenever I go in there to put clothes away or grab something really quick, Charley makes a break for it and goes right to his chair and makes tiny screaming noises until Spencer picks her up and puts her on his desk. She loves it up there and Spencer loves it when she comes in. It's really cute!
Brooklyn falls are the best!
We tried the famous ramen burger here and it was okay... not the best burger but definitely something you have to try. It was pretty salty since it's ramen plus the sauce they put on it, but Charley loved the noodles and the meat. So she ended up eating most of it anyway.
I am so excited that I finally got flash drives for my photography business! I have been thinking of switching over from CD's for a while and finally did! I love how they turned out and love giving them to clients. Photography here has been going really well. I have been doing a session about once a week of families or children and love it! I have been doing a few at the park, at the Brooklyn Bridge and in Central Park. It's been fun and a huge learning curve.
We got a membership to the Children's Museum here in Brooklyn. It's only a few blocks from our house and I am sure we will go lots this winter. Charley loved going for her first time. There is tons to do like an art station where they can do a fun craft each day. There is a water area and jungle gym. There are grocery store rooms where kids can go shopping, a pizza store where they can make a pizza, sand boxes, and so much more. We are going to love exploring each week!

My Grandpa Robert Bradshaw

10.13.2014

My Grandpa Bradshaw is 97.5 years old. I was able to visit him twice when I was in Utah and loved seeing him! He has become really frail since a year ago when I left Utah and that made me sad but I know he is in good hands with my cousin living there with him. I walked around his house and took some photos so I could remember his home and the things we used to do there. I don't know how much longer he will be here (even though he wants to live to 100 to be in the newspaper:) but I do know he is a fighter! My grandpa has always loved to garden, grow fruit trees, raise chickens and rabbits, and live off the land. He mowed his own lawn until a few years ago and eats really healthy. He has always been frugal. In the winter, to keep busy, he would shuck hundreds of walnuts to sell. He loves Chuck-a-Rama. My Grandpa has some amazing stories from WWII and from dating my Grandma. He loves to build things and has built tons of step stools and mini couches for Grandchildren. He has a cat named Damn. He has such a great sense of humor and will say things like "Well I didn't read my name in the obituary today", or "I feel like I was just run over by an 18-wheeler", or "All you need in this world are hugs and chocolate". He has poems and songs memorized. He taught himself how to play the harmonica during the war and still plays. I love my Grandpa so much and am so glad I was able to spend some time with him!
