June!

6.23.2013

This month has been a very busy and fun one! I finished school and have now been busy getting baby girls nursery together! I re-covered a glider that I found on KSL (score!) and have been decorating her walls, making a ruffle crib skirt, sewing onesies and getting our hospital and diaper bags ready! We are going to be as prepared as we can.
Some fun things.. Spencer and his brother Clint and his friend Clint went up to Strawberry Lake and went crawdad fishing! Spencer has been talking about going since LAST July when we went with our neighbors so he was in heaven and LOVED it! He 'youtubed' how to cook them and made a southern feast when he got back!

week 35

Here is the nursery! I LOVE how it turned out! We can't wait for our little girl to come!
Megan and Bailey were such a BIG help one night! They came over and helped me hang up things on the wall, put her clothes on hangers in the closet and do a little organizing!

We also went up to Ogden and saw my Grandpa this month! I love going up there and seeing him! He has lived such a fulfilled and long life! We cleaned his house, did some laundry for him, Bailey mowed his lawn, we played Pig-Mania, listened to him play the harmonica and tell stories of when he was younger. I hope our girl gets a chance to meet him! For being 96 he is still going strong, has a huge garden and is as healthy as ever!

Week 36- at my checkup the Dr. said I was 1.5cm dilated and 70% effaced. He also said she was VERY low which is a good thing for delivery but I can probably feel a lot more pressure right now. I don't feel like I do.. but I don't know any different. The only thing I feel is a small pinch in my right thigh when I walk.. I have to literally stop walking and stretch it out which probably looks a little weird sometimes in the grocery store.

This last weekend, we went up to Strawberry Lake again and took Eleanor and her kids. They are here visiting from San Antonio. They LOVED fishing with Spencer and he was again so excited to go! We got a ton of crawdads and went back home and cooked another feast!

Maternity pics

6.17.2013

My sister-in-law wanted to go up during the sunset a few nights ago and try out using a flash as it got darker. So we made it a date and decided to take a few maternity pics. Spencer was beyond thrilled :) at the idea, but was such a trooper as he always is with my, yet another, family picture day!:) He will thank me later I'm sure! So we hiked up in the mountains a ways and my SIL got some great shots. Spencer's brother, Clint, held the flash and did such a great job!:) It was SUPER WINDY that night and you can tell from my hair in most of the pictures blowing every which way!

saying goodbye

6.10.2013

My 3rd year of teaching has come to an end and it is so bittersweet for me. I have loved teaching for these past 3 years and am really going to miss it. I am so excited to stay home with our baby girl, but it will definitely be a change for me. I am a busy body and active person. I feel like I always need to be doing something to feel productive and happy. I know I will be busy with a baby, but it's going to be a different busy. It won't be like interacting with 26 six-year-olds for 8 hours of my day. It won't be multitasking with 10 million different things at once like tying a shoe, while spelling "awesome" out loud for a student, while nodding to a student that "yes" he may use the restroom while he shows me the sign I taught them, while telling another kid to sit in his chair for the 5th time, while smiling at a student's art work and trying my hardest to show my interest and care for her detailed coloring in the lines. Yes, I know I will be busy, but I am really going to miss my kiddos and teaching! I had such a great class this year and it will be a nice note to end on.
These last few months, we have done some pretty cool things. We hatched caterpillars into butterflies and tried to incubate some baby chick eggs. The eggs didn't work out as well (I turned the heat up too much and fried the poor eggs in the incubator:(... so we adopted some baby chicks from the feed store! We name our chicks Midnight, Speedy and Sunset. Midnight only stayed with us 3 days and died.. so sad! But the kids loved holding and petting these guys while we had them!

Kids from other classes would come into our classroom before and after school to see our baby chicks!
I love this drawing a student did of Sunset and Speedy happy and standing up and of "pour midnight" dead beside them!:)
I cleaned out my room last week and left it like this... I don't think I will forget the feeling of turning off the lights and shutting the door for the last time. Such great memories and such a great experience for me to be able to teach. I have a special place in my heart for education and teaching our children not only academics, but the ways of life! I will truly miss it!

Showered with love!

6.02.2013

These last few weeks I had some AMAZING baby showers! I am so thankful and blessed to have such wonderful people around me! The first was put on from some of my favorite people that I met from teaching at Channing Hall. It was hosted by my good friend Amy who is the mom of one of my students from my first year teaching. We invited just about every mom of my students from the past 3 years! It was so good to see them again and hear some great parenting advice!:)
 Love these ladies!
my first grade teaching buddy Jessica!

Then my student's parents from this years class had a shower in our classroom one afternoon. It was so much fun and we played some fun games with the kids!
The first... smelling diapers with melted chocolate to figure out what kind of candy bar was inside! :) The kids LOVED it!
The kids also made an "advice" book for me and told me some pretty good advice they think I should do with a baby. (Like go shopping when she is crying, put on a TV show when she is fussy, buy her toys and give her to Spencer when I am tired)

Lastly, my BFF from college had a shower with family and friends this last week. My sisters, Megan and Bailey also helped and Megan made the yummy food and Bailey did the craft.
 LOVE these girls!

Our fun craft! Trace a stencil of a cute baby animal/object onto fabric and glue it on a onesie! This was so fun and I am excited to dress our baby girl in these cute onesies!
