San Fran!

4.28.2013

For Spring Break I flew down to San Francisco to visit my sister Danielle. She is a traveling nurse there and lives in Palo Alto near Stanford University. It was such a fun trip! I loved being there with her and my sister Rachelle flew down from Seattle with her little girl Nora. We had a blast! Danielle is one of the kindest, most generous and happiest person I know. She truly has such a big heart and is always thinking of others and serving others. We are 9 years apart but super close. Ever since I was little, Dani was "in charge" of me and so I would tote around the house on hip like she was my mother. We have always had a strong connection and I one day hope to be more like her!
Anyway.. back to San Fran! Here are some pics of our trip! We took about 500, so I had to pick and choose! I also wanted to make a list of things we did so I could remember.. Here is the run-down of what we did!
Monday- dani picked me up and took me to Ghirardelli Square. We saw the Bay Bridge lights, walked along fishermans warf and went up to Twin Peaks to get a great view of the city.
Tuesday- Went on a nice run in Aresterdero. Rachelle and I went to a cute town called Mountainville while Dani was at work and got pedicures. We then went to Stanford campus and walked around. Went inside the some buildings and Catholic Church. We picked up Danielle and drove to half-moon bay. Went to Pescadero and got the most amazing artichoke heart bread! YUM!! Then went to Pigeon Point lighthouse and watched the full moon come up!

Wednesday- Went on a run around the dish (3.5 mile loop). Rachelle and I drove to Santa Cruz.. watched surfers, window shopped, got an acai-bowl (YUM), went to The Buttery Café and ate some yummy foot! Stopped at Natural Bridges. Went back to Palo Alto and picked up Dani... then went on a 20 miles road-bike ride! My first time ever on a road bike! Danielle has this loop called Portola Valley Alpine Loop. That night we had another surprise, where Dani's friend took us out around 10pm under the full moon and we went paddle boarding on a lake near her house! Super fun!
Thursday- Went on a run out to the Baylands. Went downtown to the ferry building and walked to pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square. Went to the Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, went to Lombard Street, drove through Christy Fields and went to the Moraga Stairs (super cool!!), kept walking up to Grandview park and ended our day with the Beach at the Cliff House with dinner and walking around the baths that were built.
Friday- biked in Golden Gate Park, walked down Haight Street (super hippie place!), went to Delores Park, mission district, drove across the Golden Gate Bridge and up tot he lookouts. Went to Union Square, the financial district and saw the Bay Bridge lights again!
Saturday- Ran in the foothills, had brunch with Aunt Karen and her ward. Then we had an Alcatraz Tour appointment (so cool!). Ate at the Woodhouse Fish Co. for dinner (sooo YUMMY).

week 26!

4.06.2013

I wanted to post some pregnancy updates for me to have.. so if you don't want to read, just skip to the pics! :)
This week I am 26 weeks along! It seems like this pregnancy is flying by, but I know I am in the comfortable stage right now and might not be saying that in a few months. Pregnancy has been a very interesting, emotional and happy time for me. It's so weird to watch your body change, your belly grow and your sleep become lesser from the midnight bathroom runs. It has been super hard for me to not push myself in running and just do light "jogs" (i hate that word) every once in a while. I feel so blessed to be able to still run and be active, but just in a lesser way. I want to buy one of those bellybands soon to put around my belly as I run, so it holds everything in place. :)
I, like one of my friends posted, feel so blessed and thank Heavenly Father for this miracle growing inside me. Spencer and I both thought it would take months to get pregnant since my body is a weird one and not regular at all. I had already been reading books about infertility and things you could do to track your progress through the months of trying. After the first week of trying and seeing that stick read "pregnant", we were both shoked and amazed! I remember us both being so giddy that night and so happy! We had traveled to the BYU vs. Notre Dame game 2 weeks before that and joke that it was the luck of the Irish!:)
Since it is my first, I get the comment a lot that I am so small to be 26 weeks and people can hardly tell I'm pregnant.. but she is definitely in there and kicking away! It is so fun to lay in bed at night and feel her kicking and let Spencer feel her kick! We both love it! The other night, I felt a different move, where she moved her knee or head completely from one side to the other side along my stomach! It was the weirdest feeling!
My morning sickness went away around week 14 with the night sickeness going away around week 18. It was so hard going to school each day being terribly sick and running out of the classroom some days throwing up in the hallway. My students would go home telling their parents that I threw up that day and so I am sure I had a lot of wondering parents! Luckily, I haven't felt sick since! I haven't really craved any foods either, but can definitely tell that I eat a lot more sweets. I was telling Spencer that I don't crave sweets, but totally justify eating more sweets since my belly is already growing. :) I can see how it is easy to gain a lot of weight when your pregnant.
As of now our baby girl is 1 1/2 pounds and about 13 inches long. I have gained 10 lbs and I am sure more to come!:)
